The Department of Urban Farming (avdelningen för stadsnära odling), City of Gothenburg, has the mission to promote local food production within the municipality of Gothenburg. They provide space for cultivation both to commercial urban farmers and to private individuals. This takes place on agricultural land on the outskirts of the city, but also in more urban locations.

Pickup lockers (utlämningsskåp) are part of an infrastructure for food distribution from small-scale commercial urban farmers to customers who buy their vegetables, often in the form of subscriptions. The urban farmer delivers vegetable bags to the pickup locker at a predetermined time. The customer can then collect their bag whenever it suits them. This facilitates logistics for everyone involved.

Greenhouse Living was commissioned to design a simple pickup locker to be placed in three locations around the city. The locker is insulated to maintain a stable temperature (without technical equipment) and the door is equipped with a code lock.
